Midvale City is partnering with the Wasatch Front Regional Council, Utah Transit Authority, Utah Department of Transportation, the Downtown Alliance, the Salt Lake Chamber, Salt Lake County, Sandy, Draper, Murray, Salt Lake City and South Salt Lake to create a new blueprint for the future of State Street and adjacent blocks.
Our aim is to improve State’s livability, vibrancy and community compatibility. This includes thinking about potential future buildings, parks, as well as potential changes to sidewalks, street furniture and even things like new high-capacity transit on State Street.
Mayor JoAnn Seghini called today a "very exciting day for law enforcement in Salt Lake County." In the Midvale City Council Chambers, Mayors and police officials from around the valley gathered to announce the creation of the Valley Police Alliance. Eleven law enforcement agencies have joined the alliance to improve cooperation and communication between entities, collective buying power and increase opportunities for federal grants, while still focusing on their local communities by retaining autonomy.
Salt Lake City Mayor, Ralph Becker stated, "...there's no question but that this kind of coordination ... is going to help save our taxpayers money, is going to make all of us work better, is going to provide better services for the residents and businesses and visitors in the whole Salt Lake Valley."
