2024 Presidential Primary Election and Neighborhood Caucus Meetings
Today (March 5, 2024) is the 2024 Presidential Primary Election and Neighborhood Caucus Meetings. Here's what you need to know:
State law allows parties to determine the method by which they allocate delegates in the presidential primary cycle.
The Utah Democratic Party opted for a primary election to determine their presidential candidate. Ballots were mailed to active registered Democrats on February 13, 2024. You may return your mail-in ballot as follows:
- By dropping it in any of the ballot drop boxes located throughout Salt Lake County. Ballots may be deposited until 8:00 p.m. tonight (March 5, 2024). You can drop off your ballot at the ballot drop box located at Midvale City Hall or
- By dropping it off at any in-person vote center today (March 5, 2024) until 8:00 p.m. Midvale City is NOT a vote center for this election.
The Utah Democratic Party Neighborhood Caucus’ will be held on March 5, 2024. A Neighborhood Caucus is a local gathering to elect new Precinct Officers and Delegates to local county parties. Democrats can find their precinct/caucus location online at utahdemocrats.org/caucus/.
The Utah Republican Party chose not to hold a primary this year. Instead, Utah Republicans will select their nominee in-person at their Neighborhood Caucus & Presidential Preference Poll tonight (March 5, 2024). Caucusing begins at 7 p.m. (check-in opens at 6 p.m.). Republicans can find their precinct/caucus location online.
