Uplift Midvale

Youth groupUplift Midvale is a dynamic community initiative dedicated to reducing youth violence in Midvale City. Our coalition, guided by the nationally recognized Communities That Care (CTC) framework, brings together city officials, community stakeholders, and passionate individuals to create a safer and more supportive environment for our youth.

We believe in the power of evidence-based methods to foster healthy behaviors and prevent the challenges that young people may face. By collaboratively developing prevention programs, we aim to increase protective factors against unhealthy habits and empower youth to lead fulfilling lives.

Our initiative represents the diverse voices of Midvale City, encompassing individuals from various socioeconomic backgrounds, genders, races, ethnicities, and ages. We focus on children and youth aged 6-18, particularly those affected by citywide social determinants of health such as food insecurity, housing insecurity, educational access, healthcare access, neighborhood crime, violence, and environmental safety.

  • Mentorship programs that provide guidance and support to young individuals.
  • Structured afterschool programming to keep youth engaged in positive activities.
  • Summertime youth involvement initiatives to prevent summer learning loss and foster personal growth.
  • Recognition of prosocial involvement to celebrate and encourage positive behavior.

  • Rising Up Together: Rising Up Together is empowering youth everywhere to connect, find purpose, and build resilience for life.They are dedicated to creating positive resources to change the lives of youth and their families for the better.
  • Next Gen: Mayor Marcus Stevenson's NextGen Initiative is an empowering program that aims to harness our city's youth's passion, talent, and potential. 
  • Choose Gang Free: Choose Gang Free Advocates are employed by Unified Police Department and work in partnership with our School Districts and other youth agencies to serve the at-risk and gang involved youth of our communities.
  • Mentorship Programs: Pairing youth with mentors who provide guidance, support, and positive role modeling.
  • Career-Focused Programs: Equipping youth with the skills and resources they need to pursue successful careers.
