Midvale City is proud to be part of the Canyons School District. Established in 2009, the District has been dedicated to innovation, customer service, community engagement, and fiscal responsibility. The District boasts a tradition of excellence in academics, art and athletics.
Since 2009, Canyons District has either rebuilt or made plans to remodel nearly all of the public schools. Midvale City students are served by four elementary schools (Copperview Elementary, East Midvale Elementary, Midvale Elementary, and Midvalley Elementary), two middle schools (Midvale Middle and Union Middle) and one high school (Hillcrest High).

In 2017, the Utah Construction and Design awarded the newly rebuilt Midvale Middle School with the Most Outstanding K-12 Project in Utah!
The building's flashy colors are deliberate, as the three grade levels are color-coded by hallways: sixth is the orange hall, seventh is yellow, and eighth is green. Features include a 650-seat auditorium for theater productions and assemblies, an expanded cafeteria and kitchen, a full-length basketball court, dance and exercise rooms, an elevated running track, a community garden, and computer and science labs with a 3-D printer.

- Hillcrest High: Hillcrest High is known for its International Baccalaureate academic program and Broadway-quality theater arts program, as well as competitive athletic teams.
Canyons School District offers Community Education classes to residents of the Canyons School District of all ages. They cover a wide range of interests and are located in schools throughout the district, including Midvale Middle.
Canyons School District is proud to offer courses and other counseling services through the Canyons Family Center, housed in Midvale's own Copperview Elementary. The Canyons Family Center provides preliminary counseling sessions to determine which service will best fit the individual. Services include individual and family-based counseling, student-support groups and parent-education classes and are free to families in the Canyons School District boundaries
After earning high school degrees, students can pursue higher education at the nearby colleges of University of Utah, University of Phoenix, Utah Valley University, Salt Lake Community College, and Brigham Young University.
