Midvale Housing Plan
The public is invited to attend a public hearing before the Midvale City Council on November 19, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. in the Midvale City Council Chambers located at 7505 South Holden Street, Midvale, Utah. The City Council will be considering a proposed General Plan amendment to incorporate a new Housing Plan for Midvale City. The proposed Housing Plan establishes a vision for Midvale’s future growth and the challenges that it poses. The Plan identifies goals to address housing needs and challenges for current and future residents. The Housing Plan is intended to serve as a policy document for housing related decisions for the next five years and includes strategies to provide additional moderate-income housing as required by the State of Utah as set forth in UCA 10-9a-403 of the Utah Code.
Through the housing plan development process, six housing and neighborhood related issues impacting current and future Midvale residents were identified through a combination of public input, market analysis, and leading data in the field of housing and planning. The issues identified are:
In order to address these issues and the challenges that they pose, staff used best practices in order to formulate a series of policies which will help to focus on and alleviate these issues.
The Housing Plan development process has taken 18 months. During this time, the City has conducted numerous public open houses, Planning Commission and City Council discussions, a citywide housing survey, and a Public Hearing at Planning Commission. The Public Hearing before the City Council will be the final opportunity for public input and comment on the Plan.
