Sanitation Division

 

Midvale City contracts with Waste Management for refuse and Ace Disposal for recycling.  Currently we collect from an estimated 5,800 homes.  The city charges a collection fee for services provided based on the number of garbage cans listed for your residence with the Utility Billing office. 

Current Fees are as follows:

  • $10.30 per residence per month.
  • Additional refuse container $4.40 per month (must be kept for a minimum of 6 months)
  • Additional recycling containers can be requested at no additional charge.

Holidays

Refuse and recycling services will not be picked up on the following holidays:

  • Independence Day
  • Thanksgiving
  • Christmas and New Year's Day.

Containers will be picked up one day later for the remainder of the week.

Lost, Stolen or Damaged Garbage and Recycling Containers

If your garbage and/or recycling container(s) are stolen, call the police department at 256-2500 to report the incident.  The Police Department's representative will issue you a case number.  Contact Midvale City Public Works at 567-7235.  A replacement container will be delivered at no additional charge.

If your garbage or recycling can is damaged as a result of negligence or misuse, the Contractor will replace the container and the City will access the replacement cost on you utility bill.  The cost of a replacement container is $55.00.

Special Services

In addition to refuse and recycling service, the City provides Bulky Waste pickup and Neighborhood Dumpster rentals.  This provides the residents the opportunity to dispose of items too big or bulky to fit into the refuse container.
